extra detail

For my catwalk i really want my outfit to be well presented and look the best quality i can get it. I think my garment is really well made and looks amazing on my model with all the accessories. To compliment more i want to purchase some sunglasses to give it that final seventy edgy look. I really like the loud colors and different shapes but the images below are my favorite examples.

left overs

Now my garments all made I'm getting more excited for the fashion show! Knowing my garments look and using all the material i needed i had a lot of leftovers which i didn't want to waste. So i decided to make a head band and two bracelets. i think they work really well with my outfit, but as a group we've decided to swap accessories so it all ties in with the fashion show.

Deciding on the final look

After deciding on my final garment i think accessories are very important. They make your look original and keep all the trends together. For the skirt i thought a brown leather thin belt would compliment it however after putting the full outfit on my model and adding the belt it didn't give the look for the dress i wanted.

Making the most out of my material

Doing my garment I'm finding it difficult to keep a trend and making it look the best it can for the catwalk. I love what i have done for the top! But i can't decide to make the rest of my dress into a skirt or shorts or a mini skirt. Trying every option Iv decided to keep it as a skirt but lift it over the bust, i think this looks very edgy and gives it that seventies look with a modern twist.

I done the skirt by cutting the top off the dress and hemming it with elastic, a very easy but appropriate technique for the design as the material flows just how i wanted.

I also tied adding detail to the bottom of my skirt, i was thinking maybe a rara skirt for a crumbled and messy look just like the seventies. However once i tacked it i didn't like the look it gave and preferred the way it hung with the elastic top.

Developing my garment

After making a few drawings i decided to turn my top around and cut the collars from my dress and sew them onto my new top. I then cut the sleeves off and used the bottoms of the top for bracelets and detail.

I think the colors and patterns class well in this photo and give a good seventies look.

Garments for my final piece,

In our four groups we all got given clothing from the charity shop to re-make into catwalk trends. As ours is seventies most of our colors were browns and greens and consisted of lots of prints. W decided as a group who works with what and below are the garments i thought colors went well together and i think personally would be good to work with.

Inspiration for my trend board

I used these trends boards from class for inspiration for my own. I also looked at other boards such as garden party as i think it links well into our trend as-well and lots of patterns and designs could be mistaken for seventies. Using all different idea's gives me a better understanding of what i can do.
